Global Diversity Positive Action (GDPA) - Cafe / Microsoft training / Music workshop.
The Foundation has been working closely with the Huddersfield based charity GDPA, whose vision is to engage with young people not in employment, education or training (NEETS) to help them choose to make a positive contribution to the community. The charity hopes to steer them away from a path of re-offending and turn them into positive contributors to the community
A town centre shop in Huddersfield is being transformed into a creative music studio, coffee shop and a Microsoft image academy. There will be workshops, motivational classes and Microsoft courses all with the aim of getting young people ready for the workplace.
GDPA have received donations of equipment and in-kind support from the Mitie businesses and their supply chain. The social enterprise was donated a barista coffee machine from the supplier Broderick’s where the Mitie property team provided the electrical and plumbing installation. Gather & Gather and their suppliers IFSE provided the cafe counter design and installation support for the coffee shop.
The space opened in the summer of 2017 and GDPA have a crowdfunding page if you would like to support them directly.
